Steak Sandwiches

  1. Preheat a grill pan.
  2. Season the steaks with salt and pepper.
  3. Grill them over moderately high heat for about 2 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  4. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for about 5 minutes.
  5. Halve the baguettes lengthwise and cut them in half.
  6. Warm the bread in the grill pan.
  7. Spread the baguettes with 4 tablespoons of the butter.
  8. Thinly slice the meat and lay the slices in the baguettes.
  9. Brush the meat with the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter and serve.
