Russian Beef Recipe
- 2/3 c. finely minced onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced fine
- 3 tbsp. oil or possibly bacon fat
- 2 pound round steak, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1 (4 ounce.) can sliced mushrooms
- 1 c. (1/2 pt.) commercial lowfat sour cream
- 1 (8 ounce.) can tomato sauce
- 1 c. beef bouillon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tbsp. flour
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- Cook onion and garlic in oil till soft in 10 inch skillet over low heat.
- Add in round steak and brown.
- Add in mushrooms with liquid, lowfat sour cream, tomato sauce, bouillon, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cover and cook over low heat for about two hrs.
- Mix together flour and water, and stir into meat gravy to thicken.
- Serve with warm cooked noodles or possibly mashed potatoes.
