125 Year Old Walnut Party Pound Cake Recipe
- 1/2 lb butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp rum extract
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. half and half
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 5 x Large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking pwdr
- 1 c. black walnuts -- minced
- Cream butter and shortening.
- Add in sugar and beat till very light.
- Add in Large eggs, one at a time, beating well.
- Add in flavoring and beat again.
- Add in flour mixed with baking pwdr, alternating with lowfat milk, starting and ending with flour.
- Mix in walnuts.
- Pour into a tube pan which has been greased and floured.
- Use one very large pan, size 4 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches.
- Bake for 80 min.
- Or possibly use two regular pans, size 3 1/2 x 9 inches and bake for 70 min.
- Bake at 325 degrees.
- Don't open oven during first hour.
- NOTE: If you don't like rum flavoring, it may be omitted; however, increase the vanilla to 2 tsp..
