Pear-Date Bars
- 1 cup pitted whole dates, chopped
- 1 medium (3/4 cup) pear, chopped
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup cold Land O Lakes Butter
- 1 Land O Lakes Egg
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- Combine all filling ingredients except pecans in 1-quart saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 2-3 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil.
- Boil 1 minute.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in pecans.
- Heat oven to 375F.
- Combine flour, sugar and baking powder in large bowl; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in egg.
- Reserve 3/4 cup crumb mixture.
- Press remaining crumb mixture on bottom of ungreased 8-inch square baking pan.
- Spread filling to within 1/4 inch of edge.
- Crumble reserved crumb mixture over filling.
- Bake 28-32 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool completely.
- Combine all drizzle ingredients in bowl; mix well.
- Drizzle over bars.
- Cut into bars.
