John Wayne Specials

• 1 lb hot sausage, fried and crumbled
• 6 hoagie rolls, preferrably not pre-split
• 8 ounces melted Velveeta cheese (or 1 small jar Cheese Whiz)
• 12 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
• 12 cup grilled onion
• 14 cup sliced pickled jalapeno pepper
• 4 tablespoons butter, softened

1. Slice a "V" in top of buns.
2. Set tops aside.
3. Scoop out center of buns, leaving a shell 1/2 inch thick.
4. Butter inside of buns and tops.
5. Layer with cheese whiz, sausage, cheese whiz, onions, jalapenos and mozzarella cheese.
6. Replace lids.
7. Wrap completely in aluminum foil.
8. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.
9. In a pinch, these can be done in the microwave, but they are much better in the oven.
10. (Sans foil, of course).
