Baked Cavatelli Recipe
- 2 1/2 c. wagon wheel macaroni, Or possibly
- 2 1/2 c. corkscrew macaroni
- 1 x thick fresh Italian sausage links, (12 ounces) sliced
- 1 x / " thick
- 3/4 c. green onions, minced
- 2 x cloves garlic, chopped
- 15 ounce canned tomato paste
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce with mushrooms, (14 ounces)
- 4 ounce Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning, crushed
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- Prepare pasta according to package directions.
- Drain, and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook sausage until no pink remains; remove from skillet.
- Drain off fat, reserving 1 Tbsp.. Cook green onion and garlic in reserved drippings until tender.
- In a 2 qt casserole, combine cooked pasta, sausage, onion mix, tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, half of the Mozzarella, Italian seasoning, and pepper.
- Toss gently to combine.
- Bake covered in a 375 degree oven for 25 min.
- Uncover, sprinkle with remaining Mozzarella.
- Bake for 5 to 10 min more or possibly until heated through.
- Makes 6 servings.
