Brats, Iowa Style

  1. Boil brats in the beer in a large pan .
  2. Boil for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Reserve beer.
  4. Place drained brats on grill (medium-high) and cook until nicely browned.
  5. Remove, and place in a large foil tray with the reserved beer and place on grill over low heat-just to keep warm.
  6. In a saucepan melt butter and add onions and peppers.
  7. Cook until ALMOST done, add marinara sauce and stir.
  8. Place in foil pan with brats.
  9. Warm sauerkraut and serve on the side with a horseradish mustard.
