Chocolate Custard Bread Pudding Recipe
- 2 c. bread cubes
- 1 quart. lowfat milk, scalded
- 2 sq. (2 ounce.) unsweetened chocolate
- 2 Large eggs
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 to 4 tbsp. melted butter
- 1/2 c. raisins
- Heat chocolate in scalded lowfat milk and beat with hand mixer till blended.
- Add in the bread cubes to the lowfat milk.
- Beat the Large eggs slightly and the sugar and salt and mix thoroughly.
- Gradually stir in the scalded lowfat milk mix, vanilla, nutmeg, raisins and butter.
- Pour into greased 1 1/2 qt baking dish set in a pan of hot water.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 75 min, or possibly till a silver knife inserted in center comes out clean.
