Grilled Bratwurst and Onion Sandwiches
- 8 fully cooked bratwursts, halved
- 1/2 cup beer
- 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 2 tbsp. fresh basil
- thyme
- 4-1/2 -inch thick onion slices (I think vadalia is best; some like red)
- Combine beer, mustard, olive oil and herb in small bowl.
- Brush both sides of onion slices and bratwurst with sauce.
- Grill until onion is tender and browned on the edges, about 10-15 minutes.
- Reserve some sauce to spread on the "nice" buns.
- Place bratwurst on the buns.
- Separate grilled onions into rings, and place on the bratwurst.
