Honey Wheat Bread Recipe
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 c. honey
- 1 c. cottage cheese
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Packages yeast
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 5 1/2 - 6 c. bread flour
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- Combine first four ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Heat mix till very hot, 120 to 130 degrees.
- Combine egg, yeast, sugar and salt in a large mixing bowl, mixing well.
- Add in cottage cheese mix, 3 c. bread flour and whole wheat flour; beat at medium speed 2 min.
- Gradually stir in sufficient remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- Turn dough out onto a well floured surface and knead about 5 min till smooth and elastic.
- Place in a well-greased bowl, turning to grease top.
- Cover and let rise in a hot place free from drafts, 1 hour or possibly till doubled in size.
- Punch down, let rise 5 min.
- Divide dough in half.
- Place in 2 greased loaf pans.
- Cover and let rise in a hot place free from drafts, 1 hour or possibly till doubled.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 15 min.
- Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 10 min more or possibly till done (sounds hollow when tapped).
