Date Toffee Scones

  1. Preheat oven to 425F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Using a pastry cutter or two knives, cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and stir until just barely moistened.
  5. Turn out onto a clean surface and knead until dough is smooth.
  6. Divide dough into two equal parts.
  7. Shape each part into a 3/4" thick circle; using a sharp knife, score the dough into five wedges.
  8. Place on prepared baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until light golden brown.
