Bread Machine Almond Poppy Bread with Cheesy Lemon Spread

  1. FOR THE CHEESY LEMON SPREAD: In heavy pan mix eggs, juice, butter, sugar and salt.
  2. Bring to a boil while stirring over low heat, then cook 3 minutes more.
  3. Beat cream cheese and lemon peel in another bowl.
  4. When egg mixture is COOL, blend into cheese until smooth and store in refrigerator.
  5. Success Hints: Toast almonds lightly in a shallow pan.
  6. Stirring frequently, bake at 350 for five minutes or until golden brown.
  7. I just toasted mine in the microwave for a couple of minutes.
  8. For a luscious dessert bread, serve with the Cheesy Lemon spread.
  9. This recipe can be made with the regular and rapid bake cycles.
  10. If your machine typically takes 2 cups of flour, the regular loaf is for you.
  11. Many machines bake regular and large loaves.
  12. Load your ingredients in the order suggested in your machine owner's manual.
  13. I use ingredients as listed with water first and yeast last.
  14. Because the liquid activates the yeast, you don't want your yeast hitting the water ahead of time--especially on a delayed time bake.
