Honey Wheat Pocket Sandwiches with Ham & Swiss

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add oil and honey; let stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the egg, salt, wheat flour and enough all purpose flour to form a soft dough.
  4. Turn onto a floured surface; knead 3-5 minutes.
  5. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Flatten each piece into about a 4 inch round, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and set aside to let it rise.
  7. For each sandwich you will need 2 slices of ham and 2 pieces of the cheese.
  8. Layer ham and place cheese in the center, folding ham around cheese.
  9. Place 1 ham and cheese bundle in the center of one flattened piece of dough.
  10. Wrap dough around ham bundle, pinching seams to seal and place seam side down on a greased or lined baking sheet.
  11. Repeat with remaining ham and bread dough.
  12. Cover and allow to rest for 15 minutes.
  13. Brush each sandwich with melted butter and bake for 12-15 minutes at 425 degrees.
