French Caramelized Apple Pudding
- 6 large apples
- 1 cup white wine
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 34 cup sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Peel apples and as you peel them, place them in a bowl with the wine and turn to coat the surface of each apple allowing them to soak in wine while completing remaining preparations.
- Place spices and half the sugar into a buttered 9 x 9 x 1 3/4-inch baking dish.
- Pour wine from apples into dish.
- Arrange apples in dish and sprinkle on remaining sugar.
- Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until tender.
- Baste several time while cooking.
