Wiener Burgers with Main Dog Slaw

  1. COMBINE all the slaw ingredients in a medium bowl.
  2. Blend well, cover, and refrigerate until serving time.
  3. HEAT the broiler.
  4. Slice the bratwursts lengthwise until almost cut through.
  5. Place on a baking sheet.
  6. BROIL the brats about 4 inches from the heat source until seared on both sides and warmed throughout.
  7. (You can also brown the brats in a skillet over medium heat.)
  8. TOP with the cheese (if you like) and broil (or cover the skillet) and cook an additional minute until the cheese melts.
  9. PLACE a wiener on each bun and pile on the slaw.
