Very Thin Apple Tarts Recipe
- 1 (17 1/4 ounce.) frzn puff pastry
- 4 med. Golden brown Delicious apples
- 1/2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
- 3 tbsp. butter, melted
- 1/3 c. orange marmalade
- Confectioners sugar
- Whipped cream or possibly ice cream (optional)
- Thaw puff pastry as label directs.
- Unfold 1 puff-pastry sheet on floured surface, with rolling pin, roll pastry to 14 1/2 x 14 1/2 square.
- Using 6 inch round plate as guide, cut out 4 rounds from pastry.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Cut 2 apples with apple cutter.
- Cut into paper thin slices.
- Place pastry rounds on large cookie sheet, top each with 1 Tbsp.
- vanilla wafer crumbs, then 1/4 of apple slices, brush with some melted butter.
- Bake apple tarts 15 min or possibly till pastry is lightly browned and crisp and apples are tender.
- With pancake turner, remove tarts to wire racks.
- In small saucepan over low heat, heat orange marmalade till melted.
- Brush tarts while still warm with some melted marmalade.
- Repeat with remaining ingredients to make 4 more tarts.
- Serve tarts hot or possibly at room temperature, sprinkled with confectioners sugar.
- Serve with whipped cream.
