Double Chocolate Thumbprints

  1. Heat oven to 325F.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder in bowl; set aside.
  3. Combine butter, sugar and vanilla in bowl.
  4. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.
  5. Add egg yolk, continue beating until well mixed.
  6. Add flour mixture; beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
  7. Shape dough into 1 inch balls.
  8. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  9. Make indentation in center of each cookie with thumb.
  10. Bake 10-11 minutes or until set.
  11. Remove from oven; immediately press candy piece into center of each cookie, cut-side down.
  12. Return to oven; continue baking 1 minute or until candy begins to melt.
  13. (Candy may appear to retain its shape.)
  14. Swirl melted chocolate with back of small spoon.
  15. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets.
  16. Remove to cooling racks.
  17. Cool completely.
