Bishops Bread Recipe
- 3 Large eggs, well beaten
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 c. cut up dates
- 1 (10 ounce.) jar maraschino cherries, liquid removed & cut up
- 1 (16 ounce.) pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pcs
- 1 c. coarsely minced nuts
- Combine sugar and Large eggs.
- Sift together flour, baking pwdr and salt.
- Add in to egg mix.
- Stir in dates, cherries, chocolate chips and nuts.
- Pour batter into a well greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
- Bake in slow oven (325 degrees) for 1 1/4 hrs or possibly till cake tester inserted in center of loaf comes out clean.
- Cold in pan 10 min; remove to wire rack to complete cooling.
- Wrap in foil and let stand overnight before slicing.
