Ground Beef Corn Pone Pie Recipe
- 1 pound grnd beef
- 1/2 c. minced onion
- 1 tbsp. shortening
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 med. minced bell pepper
- 1 to 2 c. canned tomatoes
- 1 to 2 canned kidney beans, liquid removed
- 1 pkg. Jiffy cornbread mix, mixed
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Brown grnd beef with peppers and onion in shortening in skillet, stirring till crumbly.
- Add in seasonings and tomatoes.
- Simmer, covered, for 15 min.
- Add in kidney beans.
- Pour into greased 1 1/2 qt casserole and top with cornbread batter.
- Spread proportionately with knife.
- Bake 20 min.
- Yields: 6 to 8 servings.
