Egg Bread (Francis Virginia Tea Room)
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 12 cup flour
- 2 12 teaspoons baking powder
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 18 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Grease 9 x 9 square pan.
- Put pan in oven to heat.
- Mix dry ingredients.
- Beat eggs with milk and oil.
- Add to dry ingredients.
- Mix until smooth.
- Pour into hot pan.
- Bake until brown.
- Cut into 4 to 6 pieces.
- Split for Turkey and Egg Bread Sandwiches (see recipe).
