Crispy Fried Fish Sandwiches Recipe
- 1 pound fresh or possibly frzn fish fillets (haddock, cod, halibut)
- 6 slices American cheese
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 c. crumbs (cracker, dry bread or possibly corn flakes)
- Crisco oil for frying
- 6 sandwich buns
- 6 tbsp. tatar sauce
- Cut fresh or possibly partially thawed fish into six 3 inch squares about 1/2 inch thick.
- Dip fish portions in egg, then in crumbs.
- Fry fish in 1/4 to 1/2 inch Crisco oil heated to 350 degrees in electric skillet till golden, about 4-6 min on each side.
- Drain on paper toweling.
- Place 1 slice of cheese on bottom half of sandwich bun.
- Top with warm fried fish.
- Spread 1 Tbsp.
- tatar sauce over fish.
- Cover with top half of bun.
- Pre-breaded frzn fish fillets may also be fried as shown above.
