Chocolate Hazelnut Gateau
- 2/3 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 6 oz melted & cooled choc. chips
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp light corn syrup
- 1 tbsp water
- 6 oz choc. chips
- Cream butter and sugar til light and fluffy.
- Add egg yolks, melted choc., and vanilla.
- Mix flour and salt together, then add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
- Mix well after each.
- Stir in hazelnuts
- Next beat egg whites to stiff peaks.
- Carefully fold into the batter.
- Spread into a springform pan.
- Place on a cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350F for 30-35 mins.
- cool on a wire rack 10 mins.
- Run a knife around the edge, remove sides of pan, cool completely.
- For the glaze: bring the butter, corn syrup, and water to boil.
- remove from heat, add choc.
- chips, and stir until smooth.
- Cool to room temp.
- before frosting.
