South Carolinian All - American Mustard Sauce

  1. Combine the first 7 ingredients in a small saucepan.
  2. Stir in enough vinegar to make a paste
  3. Combine molasses, ketchup, mustard, oil, and remaining vinegar.
  4. Add to herb paste
  5. Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered, 10 minutes.
  7. Stir frequently.
  8. Yields 2 1/2 cups

sugar, oregano, thyme, black pepper, cornstarch, salt, cayenne, cider vinegar, molasses, yellow mustard, ketchup, vegetable oil
