Blood Orange Syrup Recipe

  1. Stir all ingredients in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat till sugar dissolves.
  2. Increase heat and boil till syrup is reduced to 1 1/2 c., about 20 min.
  3. Chill till cool.
  4. Cover and keep refrigerated up to 2 days.
  5. This recipe yields 1 1/2 c..
  6. Comments: Blood oranges have red flesh and sweet-tart juice.
  7. They're available at farmers' markets and, increasingly, at supermarkets.
  8. This syrup would also be good over waffles.
  9. Yield: 1 1/2 c.
