Refrigerator Donut Buns (Grandma Wilson)
- 1 cup water, boiling
- 12 cup shortening
- 34 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 compressed yeast cakes, soaked
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 5 -6 cups flour
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- vanilla
- water, hot
- Pour boiling water over shortening, sugar, and salt.
- When shortening is melted, add milk, yest, and eggs.
- Then add flour (not too stiff).
- Let rise.
- Mix down, then set in refrigerator over night.
- When ready to use, set in pan and let rise.
- Make donut buns.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Mix glaze ingredients together until it is thin enough to dip the donuts into.
