Hope's Creamy Broccoli Soup
- 9 cups broccoli florets
- 1 medium onion
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 12 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 pinch basil
- 1 pinch thyme
- 1 pinch sage
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 8 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 14 teaspoon onion salt
- 1 dash Tabasco sauce
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 7 tablespoons butter
- 7 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 12 cup whipping cream
- Cook onion and 1 TBSP butter, add broccoli, and rest ingredients (except buttermilk), bring to a boil for 10 min until broccoli is tender.
- Make a white sauce: Mix ingredients together but do not boil then add to rest of soup mixture.
- Cook for additional 5 min then add buttermilk your soup is ready to serve.
