Open-Faced Turkey Burger with Caramelized Onions and Mushrooms
- 1 pound 92 Percent Fat Free Ground Turkey
- 1 whole Medium Onion, Divided (1/4 Cup Finely Chopped, The Remainder Sliced)
- 1 clove Garlic, Finely Chopped
- 1 Tablespoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/2 cups Bread Crumbs
- 1 whole Egg
- 1/2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 dashes Salt And Pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 cups Chopped Mushrooms
- 5 whole Whole-grain English Muffins
- Using your hands, squish meat, 1/4 cup chopped onions, garlic, red pepper, bread crumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper in a large bowl.
- Mix until the ingredients are able to be formed into patties without crumbling.
- If necessary, add extra bread crumbs to keep the meat together.
- Once patties have been formed, set them aside.
- Heat up your stove top grill and cook patties until they are cooked through.
- While burgers are grilling, heat a skillet with olive oil.
- Put remaining onions (sliced) and mushrooms in and sautee until soft and caramelized.
- (The smell alone will get you, I promise.)
- Toast your English muffins.
- Top each muffin with a patty, then the caramelized onions and mushrooms.
- Enjoy!
