German Chocolate Pie
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 c. milk
- 1 bar German's sweet chocolate
- 3 egg yolks
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
- 1 c. coconut
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- Combine sugar, flour, salt and 1/2 cup cold milk.
- Mix well. Scald remaining milk and add chocolate.
- Stir until chocolate is melted.
- Add scalded milk and chocolate to first mixture and cook until thickened.
- Separate egg yolks.
- Beat egg yolks slightly and add slowly to hot mixture, stirring constantly.
- Continue to cook over low heat about 2 or 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients.
- Cool and pour into 9-inch pie shell.
- Chill and top with whipped cream.
