Magyar Gulyas Recipe

  1. Season meat with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat butter in large saucepan.
  3. Brown meat in butter on all sides.
  4. Add in onions.
  5. Stir in paprika.
  6. Meat and onions should be reddish brown.
  7. Over low heat, cook, stirring till all pan juices are absorbed.
  8. Sprinkle with flour and cook 1 minute.
  9. Add in wine to cover meat.
  10. Simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hrs.
  11. Check occasionally for liquid.
  12. Add in liquid if necessary.
  13. Stir in lowfat sour cream and heat through.
  14. Serve with buttered noodles sprinkled with caraway seeds.
  15. 4 to 6 servings.
