Nakladany Hermelin - Spicy Marinated Camembert

  1. Mix the paprika, chilies (sliced into rounds), black pepper, thyme and salt in a small bowl.
  2. Thinly slice the onions and garlic.
  3. Cut the Camembert round into 8 equal pieces.
  4. Cutting it will help the flavors soak in!
  5. Place cheese into a bowl and gently mix with the spices until evenly covered.
  6. Add the onions, garlic and bay leaves to the bowl and gently mix.
  7. Put everything into a clean jar (I recommend sterilizing it with boiling water beforehand).
  8. Pour in enough oil to just cover everything.
  9. Gently press down cheese and onions so everything is in the oil.
  10. Seal your jar and put in the refrigerator.
  11. Let marinate in the fridge for at least 2 days.
  12. When taking out any cheese to eat, make sure you use a clean spoon/fork so it doesn't contaminate the rest of the cheese.
  13. Serve with bread and/or a beer.
  14. I also thought it was great on boiled or steamed potatoes!
