Corn Basters

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small pot and melt butter over low heat.
  2. Transfer to a small bowl, for basting, or to a squirt bottle.
  3. Serve warm with grilled corn.
  4. Yield: about 1/2 cup butter topping
  5. Prep Time: 2 minutes
  6. Cook Time: less than 5 minutes

  8. 1 large clove garlic
  9. 1 fresh jalapeno, seeded
  10. A handful cilantro leaves
  11. 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  12. 1/2 cup vegetable juice (recommended: V8 or Bloody Mary mix
  13. 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  14. 1/2 stick butter, softened
  15. Finely chop the garlic, jalapeno and cilantro and mash with the salt to paste it.
  16. Transfer to a small pot and add the vegetable juice or Bloody Mary mix, hot sauce and butter.
  17. Heat the combination over low heat until butter melts and transfer to a small bowl, for basting, or to a squirt bottle.
  18. Serve warm with grilled corn.

  23. Equally tasty are dry topping blends to sprinkle on plain buttered corn.
  24. Pizza Corn Sprinkler:
  25. 1 cup grated Parmigiano or Romano
  26. 1 tablespoon dried oregano or Italian dried seasoning blend
  27. 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  28. 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  29. 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  30. Combine all ingredients and sprinkle on buttered corn on the cob or popped corn.
  31. Yield: 1 cup
