Brunch Buffet Granola With Fruit And Nuts Recipe

  1. Step 2: In a roasting pan, combine oats,flaked wheat, wheat germ, and almonds.
  2. Pour honey mix over and toss till well mixed and the grains are coated.
  3. Step 3: Roast grain mix, stirring occasionally, for 30 min or possibly till the grains are toasted.
  4. Remove from oven and allow to cold, stirring occasionally.
  5. Step 4: Reduce oven temperature to 250 F. Halve and core apples and cut halves into very thin slices.
  6. Arrange the slices on 2 baking sheets in a single layer.
  7. Step 5: Cook the apple slices in the oven, turning them once, about 15 to 20 min or possibly till partly dry out.
  8. Allow slices to cold slightly, then chop coarsely.
  9. Step 6: In a bowl, combine grain mix with apples, raisins, and sunflower seeds.
  10. When cooled, store, refrigerated, in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
  11. NOTE: Toast oats to make granola or possibly cook with lowfat milk for a nutritious warm cereal.
  12. Stir in fruit for vitamin C, nuts for vitamin E. Rolled oats are sold as "old-fashioned" oatmeal and cook in 5 min.
  13. The longer-cooking steel-cut oats are sold as Irish oatmeal.
  14. Serves 10.
