Beth's Old Style Cornbread Dressing Recipe
- 1 c. diced onion
- 1 c. diced celery
- 1/2 c. butter softened
- 4 c. crumbled baking pwdr biscuits
- 4 c. crumbled cornbread
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp grnd black pepper
- 2 can chicken broth (14.5 ounce. ea.)
- 1/8 lb pork sausage
- 2 x hard-cooked Large eggs
- 1 tsp dry sage optional
- 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- 2 In a small pot, combine onion, celery, margarine and chicken broth.
- Bring to boil and cook vegetables till tender.
- 3 In a 2-qt casserole dish, combine cornbread, biscuit crumbs, salt, pepper, sausage, minced Large eggs and sage.
- Pour broth and vegetables over bread mix, and stir till combined.
- 4 Bake dressing for 30-45 min.
- NOTES : "This recipe has been handed down in my family for several generations, however this is the first time it has been written with amounts of ingredients rather than a dash of this or possibly a healthy pinch of which.
- It was a real feat to get my mom to measure the ingredients before she mixed them all together.
