Mexican Pie
- 1 lb lean ground veal
- 14 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 398 ml mushrooms, sliced and drained (I would try with fresh mushrooms)
- 1 celery root, finely chopped
- 14 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 14 cup onion, finely chopped
- 12 teaspoon garlic powder
- 12 teaspoon dry oregano
- 5 12 ounces tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- 1 cup instant rice, uncooked
- 1 cup water
- 5 12 ounces tomato paste
- 1 cup cheese, grated
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Bottom of pie: Mix all ingredients for the bottom all together and put in pie plate of 9 inches.
- Filling: Mix all ingredients of the filling, except the cheese and put on the mixture of veal.
- Bake 30 minutes.
- Add the cheese, and put back in the oven for 10 minutes.
