Kesar Chawal (Fragrant Rice)
- 1 tablespoon oil (Olive)
- 12 ounces rice (Basmati)
- 2 cups water
- 6 cardamom
- 4 cloves
- 2 inches cinnamon sticks
- 2 bay leaves
- 12 teaspoon cumin seed
- 12 teaspoon turmeric
- Heat the oil in a saucepan and saute the drained rice thoroughly for about 3 minutes.
- Add the water and spices, then bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook gently for 20 minutes.
- To serve, fluff the rice with a fork.
