Amish Apple Pie Recipe
- 1/3 c. Sugar
- 1/4 c. Brown sugar
- 10 Tbsp. Flour
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 x d Salt
- 1/2 c. Butter, cool
- 1/2 c. Walnuts, coarsely minced
- 4 lrg Apples, (4 c.)
- 1 x Unbaked 10" pie shell
- 1 c. Sugar
- 3 Tbsp. Flour
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 lrg Egg
- 1 c. Heavy cream ( whipping)
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- In a food processor bowl, mix the first 6 ingredients for streusel together.
- Add in the butter, and process till mix is crumbly; it should still have a dry look, do not overprocess.
- Add in nuts, and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples (should be about 4 c.).
- Place apples in pie shell.
- In a small bowl, mix the sugar, flour and cinnamon.
- Beat the egg in a medium bowl, and add in the cream and vanilla.
- Add in the sugar mix to the egg mix, and blend.
- Pour over the apples.
- Bake for 1 hour in the lower third of oven.
- After 20 min, sprinkle streusel over top.
- and continue baking about 40 min longer, or possibly till the top puffs, and is golden.
