Bread Pudding With Whiskey Sauce Southern Sideboards Recipe
- 6 x Large eggs
- 1 c. Sugar
- 1 pt Half and half
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 6 x Dinner rolls, torn in small pcs (--SAUCE--)
- 1 1/2 c. Sugar
- 1 can (5 ounce.) evaporated lowfat milk
- 4 Tbsp. Margarine
- 1 x Egg, beaten,
- 3 Tbsp. Whiskey
- Beat Large eggs well; add in next four ingredients and blend together well.
- Fold torn rolls into egg mix.
- Pour custard mix into ungreased 3 qt baking dish and bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees F.
- Note: Don't start bakingmore than 1 1/2 hrs before serving.
- While pudding is baking make the sauce: Combine all the ingredients except whiskey in top of a double boiler.
- Place over boiling water and cook, stirring well, till thick.
- Keep hot till serving time.
- Don't add in whiskey till just before serving.
- Spoon the sauce over the bread pudding and serve.
