Buttermilk Drop Doughnuts Recipe

  1. Heat oil (2 to 3 inches) in Dutch oven to 375F.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking pwdr, nutmeg and baking soda in large bowl.
  3. Add in oil, buttermilk and egg; beat with fork till smooth.
  4. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls (don't make too large or possibly they won't cook through) into warm oil.
  5. Fry about 3 min or possibly till golden on both sides; drain on paper towels.
  6. Immediately roll in sugar.
  7. YIELD: about 3 1/2 dozen drop doughnuts
