Savory Beef Stroganoff Recipe
- 1 c. minced onions
- 1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 pound round steak
- 1/4 c. flour
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. white wine
- 1 teaspoon minced dillweed (optional)
- 1 c. lowfat sour cream
- Saute/fry onions and mushrooms in 1/4 c. of the butter in large heavy skillet till onions are tender but not brown.
- Remove from pan and set aside.
- Cut meat into 2 inch strips.
- Combine flour and 1 tsp.
- of the salt.
- Coat meat with the flour mix and brown well in butter in skillet.
- Add in water, wine, remaining salt and the dillweed.
- Cover and simmer for 30 min.
- Add in onions and mushrooms and simmer 30 min longer, or possibly till meat is very tender.
- Just before serving, gradually stir in lowfat sour cream and heat gently (don't boil).
- Serve over warm noodles.
- Makes 6 servings.
