Berries Brulee

  1. Heat broiler.
  2. Pick over berries, and remove any mildewed ones, leaves or husks.
  3. If using strawberries, hull each, then cut lengthwise in halves or quarters.
  4. Arrange berries in a shallow baking dish.
  5. Stir sour cream until smooth, and spread over berries.
  6. Place brown sugar in small sieve, and press through to cover sour cream in a light, even layer.
  7. Broil until sugar begins to bubble and lightly caramelize; do not allow to burn.
  8. Serve at once.
