Round Steak Sauerbraten Recipe
- 1-1/2 lbs. round steak, cut 1/2 inch thick
- 1 env. brown gravy mix
- 2 c. water
- 1 teaspoon instant chopped onion
- 2 teaspoon vinegar
- 2 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- Warm buttered egg noodles
- Cut steak into 1 inch squares.
- Brown steak on all sides in warm fat in large skillet.
- Remove steak from skillet.
- Add in gravy mix, and water to skillet.
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Stir in remaining ingredients except noodles.
- Return steak to skillet, cover.
- Simmer for 1 hour and 30 min stirring occasionally.
- Remove bay leaf.
- Serve steak over warm buttered noodles.
- Yield: 5 to 6 servings.
