Hawaiian Gourmet Grilled Cheese
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 2 slices Rye Bread
- Ground Black Pepper To Taste
- 2 slices Mozzarella Cheese Or Amount As Desired
- 2 slices Deli Black Forest Ham
- 1/2 whole Avocado, Peeled, Pitted And Smashed
- 2 Tablespoons Charred Pineapple Relish
- Heat 1 tablespoon of the butter in a non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat.
- Butter one side of each slice of rye bread, using 1 tablespoon of butter for each.
- Grind some black pepper over the buttered sides.
- Layer your sandwich as follows: put the mozzarella cheese and the slices of black forest ham on what will be the bottom side of your sandwich (set bread on your work surface buttered side down, of course) and then spread the smashed avocado on what will be the top slice of bread (again, buttered side down).
- Spoon the charred pineapple relish over the smashed avocado and spread it evenly.
- Close up your sandwich, put it into the pan and fry it on low-medium heat, flipping it every few minutes until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- This is a messy one, but absolutely mouth-watering and worth it.
- Note: The relish I used is Harry and Davidss Charred Pineapple Relish with Candied Peppers.
- But you can also make your own.
