Harvest Restaurant Molasses Brownies
- 1 x butter for the pan
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large eggs
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee, espresso mixed with one tablespoon water, or strong brewed coffee
- 3 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup flour, all-purpose
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder unsweetened, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 x powdered sugar for dusting
- Preheat the oven to 350F (180C).
- Grease an 8 inch square brownie pan.
- In a large bowl, add the sugar, egg, molasses, butter, coffee, and vanilla.
- Blend thoroughly.
- In another bowl, sift or whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients into the wet and mix until completely incorporated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 23 to 25 minutes or until a skewer or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the brownies start to pull away from the sides of the pan.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- Make three even cuts in each direction to make a total of 16 brownies.
- Dust with powdered sugar.
- Enjoy.
