Sweet Potato Pork Rolls

  1. Wash the sweet potatoes and wrap with cling film to microwave for 3-4 minutes at 600 W. The sweet potatoes do not need to cook through.
  2. Cut the sweet potato into 4 to 5 cm sticks, to make 20 sticks in total.
  3. Roll up each sweet potato with a slice of pork.
  4. Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil.
  5. Place the Step 3 rolled pork on the pan with the rolled edges on the bottom.
  6. Stir fry on high heat to brown.
  7. When the pork has browned, turn down the heat to low, then pour in the sake.
  8. Cover with a lid to steam for 3 minutes until the sweet potato has softened.
  9. Crank up the heat to high.
  10. Pour the soy sauce and mirin and coat the sauce by rolling the pork in it.
  11. When the sauce has mostly evaporated, sprinkle the sesame seeds and it is done.
