Toad in the Hole
- 6 whole Sausages (pork Is Best)
- 1 Tablespoon Drippings
- 1- 1/2 cup Plain Flour
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1- 1/2 cup Milk
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Brown sausages off in a frying pan on a low heat.
- Once oven is hot enough, put the drippings in a casserole dish and in to the oven.
- (Drippings need to be really hot.)
- Sift flour into a bowl with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Whisk the eggs and the milk into the flour, smoothing out lumps.
- Take the casserole dish out the oven, pour in the batter mix then place the sausages in.
- Cook for about 20 minutes or until the batter is risen and golden.
- Serve at once with brown gravy.
