  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Put in large bowl; add sugar, salt and shortening.
  3. Add 3 cups (700 ml) flour and mix to a smooth paste.
  4. Add remaining flour and water.
  5. Mix until smooth and let raise in warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Divide in half and form into loaves.
  7. Place in greased pans and let raise to top of pans.
  8. Bake at 400 degrees (200 C.) for 30 minutes.
