How to Peel the Outer Skin of Chestnuts (My Mother's Version)

  1. Soak fresh chestnuts in water overnight.
  2. Peel off the hard base of the chestnut from the side with a knife.
  3. It's tricky, so be careful.
  4. Peel the rest of the outer shell in sections by pulling toward the top of the chestnut.
  5. It should look like this.
  6. Use the corner of the blade of your knife to peel the rest.
  7. It's easy, right?
