Granny's Apple Pie Recipe
- Pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
- 6 lg. Granny Smith apples, pared, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Dash of salt
- Dash of nutmeg
- 2 tbsp. butter
- Pare, core and slice Granny Smith apples into a large bowl.
- Blend sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt together and mix with sliced apples.
- Line a 9-inch pie plate with pastry dough and fill with apple mix.
- Dot with butter.
- Adjust top crust and seal tightly.
- Brush melted butter over top crust, sprinkle with 1 Tbsp.
- sugar and cut 4 (1 inch) slits in top crust to let steam escape.
- Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 1 hour and 20 min.
- Serve at room temperature with your favorite topping, ice cream, whipped topping, cheese, or possibly just as is!
