Alehouse Prime Rib Sub
- 1/4 lb Smoked Prime rib (shaved) recipe attached at the very bottom of the directions.
- 4 cup Au jus (see notes)
- 4 slice Sharp cheddar cheese, you can use any kind you like but I think a smoked provolone would work well.
- 1 Hoagie roll
- 2 tbsp Garlic butter (recipe attached below)
- Au jus notes***** you can use homemade or store bought.
- I've attached a couple recipes I found on the app.
- (you can use beef broth for a substitute) You should save any leftover au jus.
- Makes a really good base for a soup or stew.
- Preheat oven to 350F and bring the au jus to a full simmer.
- With a large very sharp chef's knife slice the prime rib.
- Take your time and go slow and keep the slices as thin as possible.
- When you're done shaving go through the prime rib picking out any large pieces of fat.
- Split open the hoagie roll and spread with garlic butter.
- Place in the oven for 5 to 8 minutes.
- The bun should be "lightly toasted".
- Add the cheese and return to the oven for about 5 more minutes.
- Remove when the cheese is nice and melted.
- Add the sliced prime rib to the hot broth for about 30 seconds.
- You are just want to reheating it slightly, not trying to cook it anymore.
- (a mesh wire basket comes in handy for this)
- Let the shave prime rib drain for a few moments then add to the hoagie roll.
- Should be served with sour cream horseradish sauce and a cup of au jus for dipping.
- Side serving suggestion
