Guest Stew
- 1 pkg. dry Italian salad dressing mix
- 1/4 tsp. soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 lb. stewing beef, cut in pieces
- flour
- 4 Tbsp. salad oil
- 4 carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 medium onion, peeled and quartered
- 1/2 lb. mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
- water
- salt and pepper to taste
- Mix salad dressing according to package directions.
- Combine 1/4 cup of the salad dressing with the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce.
- Marinate beef in the sauce for 3 hours.
- Coat beef lightly with flour and brown in heated salad oil in heavy skillet. Transfer meat to a Dutch oven and top with carrots, onion and mushrooms.
- Add enough water to just cover the meat and vegetables. Cover Dutch oven and bake in preheated 300u0b0 oven for 3 hours or until beef is tender.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- May serve with hot cooked rice or noodles if you wish.
- Makes 4 to 5 servings.
